When planning a Pakistani wedding, a lot of focus is concentrated on the bridal dress. And rightly so, the bride is, after all, going to be the centre of attention, and every other wedding element will be complimenting her. Weddings being a very important day of their lives, brides want to look the best and stand out from other brides they have known. Since the dress will be the main piece of her preparations, every bride will do her best to have a stylish and stunning one.
Pakistani designers are now world renowned for their sense of detailing and cuts, and fashion weeks featuring these designers’ collections determine the wedding dress trends for the year.
2015 has seen an amalgamation of the old and the new, the traditional and the modern. In terms of cuts and styles, a lot of 2014 has been carried forward but with a varied color palette.
Color:
Even though traditional brides nearly always for red on their weddings, contemporary brides are no longer limited to shades of red for their wedding day. Pinks, purples, pastels, nudes are now making appearances on ramps and in actual weddings too.
Though red is still a popular option, it is not the be all end all for Pakistani brides anymore.
Color combinations are also starting to get more daring, pastels are being paired with loud colors and contrasts are being played with in the Pakistan bridal fashion scene.
Shirt Lengths
Since we are currently in a transitional phase with nearly everything going. A lot of brides are still going for long shirts. Anarkali styles, angarkhas and front open outfits are still very much in vogue, but might fizzle out soon. Now that shirts are getting a little shorter in Pakistan, the bridal brigade is also going towards shorter variations.
Lehnga Cholis:
This very traditional attire is making a very solid comeback. Short cholis and flary lehngas are once again capturing attention. Make them heavily embellished with dabka or gota and you have a beautiful royal look for your wedding.
Maxis:
Borrowing from western trends, Maxis or ankle length gowns are ragingly popular, especially for walima brides. Not only are they easier to carry, they look classy and modern as well. It is also very versatile and can be made with numerous cuts and patterns that suit your body type. It is also possible to play with colors and come up with an absolutely unique dress that is made just for you.
Angarkhas:
Some brides are doing away with the Lehngas and opting for the more comfortable and easy to carry Angarkhas paired with chooridar trousers. Not only is it elegant but also reminiscent of the Mughal era when it was a popular choice of attire.
Whatever you choose to wear on your wedding, it is important that it be decidedly and you and something that you can wear comfortably. Pakistani weddings are hectic affairs, and hard to manage dresses can make them even more tiring. So be you and choose wisely!
